Holiday Winterfest Planned Nov. 15
Homemade bean soup and cornbread will highlight this year’s “Holiday Winterfest” planned at Takoma Regional Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 15.
The annual volunteer bazaar features delicious lunch and dessert items, as well as a seasonal craft sale.
“Our volunteers are well known for their homemade mission bean soup,” Renee Lowery, the hospital’s volunteer director, said. “And we only offer it once a year, so the Holiday Winterfest is a big deal.”
The bean-soup-and-cornbread lunch will be offered for only $3.50 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Everett and Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Conference Center on the hospital campus. Other items include homemade pimento cheese sandwiches and “chik salad” vegetarian sandwiches, each for $2.50.
Various homemade desserts – including their “famous” chocolate torte -- will be sold for $1.50. Takeouts will be available.
The holiday craft sale will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Volunteer Conference Center. Items include mission bean soup mixes, homemade desserts and breads, seasonal wreaths and centerpieces, and other holiday décor items.
“Our volunteers are very talented,” Lowery noted. “Norma Wannamaker is renowned for her hand-made baskets, teddy bears, scarves and matching hats, and Christmas stockings. She is one the best crafters around. We will be selling many beautiful items that will brighten any home this holiday season – just in time to decorate for the holidays.”
Proceeds from the lunch and craft sale will be used for volunteer projects at the hospital.
