GREENEVILLE – New diabetics will be given free blood sugar meters as part of “Meter Day” on Friday, Feb. 10, at the Takoma Medical Office Building, located at the corner of East Vann Road and Takoma Avenue.
The event will be held in Suite 100, located on the first floor. Participants should use the front entrance of the building, facing East Vann Road.
Lifescan, who produces the One Touch Ultra and One Touch UltraSmart meters, will be available from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to give free meters to new diabetics, and will allow others to trade in their old meters for new ones, according to Nancy Salamina, a registered nurse and certified diabetic educator at Takoma Adventist Hospital. “And I will be available from 9 a.m. until noon to answer questions,” Salamina noted.
Sugar-free goodies, made with recipes using Splenda, also will be provided.
