GREENEVILLE, TN – Free classes about how to better control diabetes will be offered Monday, Oct. 2, at Takoma Adventist Hospital.
The class, called “Basic Carb Counting and Introduction to Insulin Pumping,” will be offered at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Board Room, located next to the Forget-Me-Not Gift Shoppe.
“This class is for diabetics who are interested in learning more about insulin pump therapy, or who want to learn to carbohydrate count to better control their diabetes,” Nancy Salamina, the hospital’s certified diabetic educator, said. “We usually offer this class at night, but we’ve had requests from people who didn’t want to drive after dark.”
Another class, called “Advanced Insulin Pumping,” will be held at 3:30 p.m. that day. “This class is for those who have had their pumps for a while and want to learn how to use the advanced features,” she said.
Salamina also is a registered nurse and a certified insulin pump trainer.
There is no charge for the class. Pre-registration is suggested, since space is limited. For more information, please call Nancy Salamina at 636-0308.
