GREENEVILLE, TN – Free diabetic classes are scheduled Jan. 8 at Takoma Adventist Hospital.
A “Basic Diabetes and Meal Planning” class will be offered at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Conference Room, located next to the Forget-Me-Not Gift Shoppe on the first floor.
“This class is for anyone who wants to learn about diabetes and meal planning and will cover carbohydrate counting, relationship between food, medicine and exercise, and lots more,” Nancy Salamina, the hospital’s certified diabetic educator, said. “We’ll also look at the targets for blood sugar and A1C goals, and treatment and prevention of high and low blood sugars.”
Another class, “Advanced Insulin Pump Skills,” will be offered at 3:30 p.m., also in the Conference Room.
“This class is for those who have been using their insulin pumps and want to fine-tune their therapy,” Salamina said.
Both classes are free. To register for either class, please call Salamina at 636-0308.
