GREENEVILLE, TN – Takoma Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center has scored 100 percent compliance with the Food and Drug Administration for the sixth consecutive year.
“The FDA comes in yearly and reviews our books and equipment for quality control,” Joyce Rose-Smith, mammography coordinator, said. “I am very proud of our score. It is just another indicator of the superior level of care patients receive at Takoma.”
Takoma was the first hospital in Greene County to receive accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR), she noted.
Rose-Smith, a mammography technologist, received an associate’s degree in science from East Tennessee State University. She is registered in radiography and mammography with the ACR.
Rose-Smith has more than 25 years of experience as a mammographer and has worked at Takoma for 12 years. “I am very proud to work for Takoma, where our mission is to provide a place of comfort and healing for our patients. They deserve nothing less than exceptional care, which is what we provide at Takoma.”
Rose-Smith was praised as a highly dedicated employee. “The fact that Joyce has achieved 100 percent compliance for the past six years shows her outstanding dedication,” Sean Light, director of imaging, said. “Joyce has done an excellent job in maintaining the high quality standard of mammography at Takoma. And, we will continue to provide the highest level of service and care to our patients in Greene County and the surrounding areas.”
The Women’s Imaging Center is on the third floor of the Takoma Medical Office Building, located at the corner of East Vann Road and Takoma Avenue, on the hospital campus.
The outpatient center features state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment; stereotactic breast biopsy; ultrasound; and the revolutionary “SecondLook” computer-aided detection system that provides an important “second opinion” for breast cancer screenings.
