Diabetes and how it impacts heart health will be discussed Thursday, March 4, at Takoma Regional Hospital.
Guest speaker will be Kim Norris, a registered nurse with Life Scan one-touch meters. The lecture, which will be held at 6 p.m. in the Everett and Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Conference Center, is sponsored by Takoma Regional’s diabetes support group.
“Diabetics are at a higher risk for heart health issues, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart attack,” Louisa Hammer, Takoma Regional’s diabetic educator, said.
Norris will review ways to improve heart health and reduce risks for heart-related complications, Hammer said.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact Hammer at (423) 636-0308.
