Takoma Regional Hospital has named Christy Painter director of the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Painter has served at Takoma Regional for 11 years in bedside nursing and leadership roles. Painter was formerly the hospital’s nursing supervisor and was a charge nurse in the medical surgical unit. She worked four years in the Takoma Regional intensive care unit and also served in the emergency department.
Painter, who earned her nursing degree at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tenn., is the nurse leader for an intensive care unit that recently was honored for its success in an 18-month study aimed at eliminating central-line-acquired blood stream infections in patients. For over two years, Takoma Regional hasn’t had an infection from a central line.
