Dr. Leslie Leicht Joins Takoma As New Inpatient Rehab Director
Dr. Leslie Leicht has been named the new director of the Center for Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation at Takoma Regional Hospital.
Dr. Leicht graduated from medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, N.Y. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut, and performed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Dr. Leicht is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She has practiced rehabilitation medicine for more than 20 years.
She was an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She also served as medical director for several sub-acute and acute rehabilitation units, most recently at Alpena Regional Medical Center in Michigan for the past eight years.
Dr. Leicht said she moved to Greeneville to be closer to family. Her brother, Dr. Stuart Leicht, is a dermatologist is Johnson City.
She and her husband, James, have two sons, Gavin, who attends Tusculum View Elementary School, and Bryce, who attends Greeneville High School.
At Takoma, Dr. Leicht will manage the hospital’s acute inpatient rehabilitation center, which treats the full gamut of acute rehabilitation patients, ranging from stroke and spinal cord injuries to hip fractures and debility from recent illness.
“We are dedicated to improving function, self-sufficiency and quality of life,” Dr. Leicht said. “Most importantly, patients can undergo rehabilitation close to home in a hospital setting with family involved. Families don’t have to worry about traveling and patients always do better with families receiving training from staff. I am very impressed with this unit and this hospital. Takoma’s inpatient rehabilitation unit provides excellent patient care right here in Greeneville with outstanding outcomes and patient satisfaction, compared to any unit where I have worked before.”
