1.  APPLICATION
AND INTERVIEW

 Pick up application from switchboard operator or from Volunteer Office at Everett and Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Center, 303 Takoma Ave., or go to www.takoma.org and download application from Volunteer tab.  Schedule INTERVIEW with Volunteer Services Director--call Renee Lowery at (423) 798-8136.

2. BACKGROUND CHECK AND COMPLIANCE CLASS

 Director will initiate background check.  Once check has been completed, Renee will call you or e-mail you.  Attending a compliance class is MANDATORY.  Check your calendar and mark the 3rd Monday of the month at 10:50 a.m., so you can attend the class in the Board Room on first floor of the hospital.  The class is offered only once a month.

 After Renee has contacted you, go to Greeneville Urgent Care/Occupational Medicine on Coolidge Street (636-9828 for appointment) for the physical (no charge for volunteers)  There you will have a blood draw (CBC) to show exposure to disease and a TB skin test.  Within 2-3 days, return to Urgent Care/Occ Med. to have them read your TB test.  A second injection will be given and it must be read within 2-3 days.  You will be given a certificate to bring to the Volunteer office.

4.  ID BADGE

Get a copy of your immunization record and bring it with the certificate to the Volunteer Office to arrange for your ID Badge picture to be taken in the Human Resources office on 2^nd floor of the hospital.  The ID Badge is sent to the Volunteer Office and it will be given to you when you report for scheduling.  You must wear the badge whenever you are in the hospital.

5.  TRAINING

When you meet with the Volunteer Director, you will be given the Volunteer Handbook, and the Director will go over the hospital mission and core values.  You will also learn about controlling the risk of infection and about hospital safety codes and other policies.

Training will begin after you have received the ID Badge.  You will receive training from your supervisor or a designated person in the department where you will work. 

6.  VOLUNTEER OFFICE

 The Volunteer Office is located in the Everett and Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Center at 303 Takoma Ave.  The Volunteers meet there on the first Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m., September until May.
