Takoma Hospital’s Volunteer Center Renamed To Honor Departing Founding Family Members
GREENEVILLE, TN – Takoma Adventist Hospital has renamed its Volunteer Conference Center in honor of members of the founding family who are moving out of state next month.
The news was announced at a special farewell reception held for Everett and Carolyn Coolidge on Feb. 17.
As part of the send-off, a sign was unveiled outside with the new name, “The Everett And Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Conference Center.” The building, which once served as the Greeneville Seventh-day Adventist Church and now houses the hospital’s volunteer department, is located at the corner of Takoma Avenue and Coolidge Street.
Mr. Coolidge is a former administrator at Takoma and son of Dr. L.E. Coolidge, the founder of the hospital. In her youth, Mrs. Coolidge trained at the now-defunct Takoma School to become a registered nurse, and then worked at the hospital for several years.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Coolidge have collectively served as volunteers at the hospital for nearly 43 years.
The Coolidges are moving to the Orlando, Fla., area later this month to live near two of their three sons.
