GREENEVILLE, TN – LPGA Pro Caroline Blaylock will headline the Thirteenth Annual Takoma Golf Classic on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Andrew Johnson Golf Club, officials announced today.
Blaylock was a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Tour from1997 to 2003, a member of the Women’s Professional European Golf Tour in 1997, three time winner of the Georgia Women’s Open, and was elected to the Furman University Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. She is noted for her long drives.
Blaylock will be on hand to give a demonstration before play begins and to hit tee shots for the teams on Hole #4, according to Spencer Smith and W. T. Daniels, tournament co-chairs.
The event is four-person, select shot in three divisions. The player entry fee of $125 includes green fee, cart, free practice round, free range balls, a boxed lunch, refreshments on the course, a microfiber wind vest, and a gourmet dinner by Deidra following the tournament. The traditional banana split at the turn will fend off hunger pangs until dinner.
In case of rain, the event will be Oct. 10.
Sponsor and player donations for this tournament will help pay for renovations to the former office building of Drs. Robert Bridges and Frederic Myers, which will be used as a new Emergency Medical Services substation on the Takoma Adventist Hospital campus. Construction is currently underway.
Last year’s event drew a full field, netting nearly $32,000 for the hospital’s Emergency Department project.
