Safe Sharps Program

Takoma’s Diabetes Treatment Center provides a “safe sharps” program that is dedicated to our Greene County residence that have difficulty in disposing of their sharps safely.  These sharps include lancets used to check blood sugar, and needles and syringes used for medicine administration.  The Diabetes Treatment Center provides FREE sharps containers to anyone who needs a safe way to dispose of lancets, needles, and syringes.  Once your sharps container is full, you can bring it in and exchange it for an empty container.  We will safely dispose of your lancets and sharps for you free of charge.

Guidelines for participation in this program:

The drop-off is only for the sharps containers supplied to you by Takoma Regional Hospital.

  1. Please bring your containers Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. inside the main entrance of Takoma Regional Hospital at the reception desk.
  2. Please make sure your containers are full and locked.
  3. Please use these containers for lancets, needles and syringes.
